Tender Loving Cats, Inc.(TLC) “Senior Owner's Assistance Program” provides food, litter and veterinary care to senior owners of felines who are (65+) on disability or on public assistance, that are financially unable to care for their beloved feline friends. On June 25, 2018 at 1:30 in the morning our President & Founder received a frantic phone call from an elderly, permanently disabled, bed ridden and paralyzed women with eight cats that she has cared for up to 12 years. This woman was seeking help for her cats as she could no longer afford to properly care for them. After going to her home and assessing the situation we concluded that if we could help her by covering the cost of the cats food, litter and Veterinary care then these cats could remain in the home with their owner. A TLC Volunteer liaison oversees the ordering of food, litter and arranging veterinary care. This program has the potential to help more than just this one person with 8 cats stay in their home as long as possible.
The Senior Owners Assistance Program commenced in July 2018. As of April 30, 2019, we have spent $1,547 for cat food and litter to help an impoverished, bedridden elderly woman in Melville, NY care for her feline companions. If you know of a senior in need of assistance please contact us immediately so that we can assess the situation.
