Pet Peeves Grants Tender Loving Cats, Inc. $4,500 to fund P.A.L. (Prevent A Litter) Program.
Tender Loving Cats, Inc. would like to thank Pet Peeves for helping us save lives by spaying & neutering cats on Long Island with a generous $4,500 grant to help fund our P.A.L. (Prevent A Litter) Program. TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and Spay/Neuter is by far the most effect and humane way to address the feral cat epidemic facing Long Island, NY. Feral cats are not indigenous to our area therefore this epidemic starts with owned pets. By spaying just one female cat we will have prevented upwards of 370,092 cats in only 7 years. It is difficult to put a number as to how many feral cats reside on Long Island, it is fair to say that sheer volume of feral cats on Long Island is overwhelming and we are in a state of crisis. It is incredibly difficult to keep up with the calls that come in daily from those needing help placing kittens found in backyards to the daily calls from owners who need/want to rehome their pets. The Prevent A Litter (P.A.L) Program aims to provide a low-cost spay/neuter program for feral cats and owned cats of low-income individuals residing on Long Island, NY in an attempt to curb the numbers of homeless cats & kittens born on Long Island’s streets every year. Individuals who qualify will pay a discounted rate of $25/cat or kitten. Please submit the application below. Before trapping a feral cat please read & follow our trapping information and instructions. Complete the application to qualify for the PAL Program. Questions and/or supporting documents can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
Petfinder Foundation awards Tender Loving Cats, Inc. received a $1,000 cat enrichment grant.
Thanks to a $1,000 enrichment grant that Tender Loving Cats, Inc. was awarded by the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to purchase many different cat enrichment toy favorites: like Go Cat Wand Teasers, Tunnels, easily disinfected wooden scratching post by FrontPet & Catit Vespar with replacement pads and Stretch & Scratch disposable scratchers for all our caged kitties. These items have helped to stimulate their minds and teach them where it’s appropriate scratch in a home, making them more adoptable and more prepared to enter their forever homes. In a shelter-like environment it’s important to have items that can be easily washed and disinfected in communal play areas. This grant has enabled our grass roots shelter to provide such items to our cats & kittens that we otherwise would not have been able to.
